Our 100th Anniversary
In 2016, FamilyAid Boston celebrated 100 years of providing shelter, housing, and hope to homeless parents and children.
FamilyAid Boston was founded in 1916 as the Travelers Aid Society of Boston, providing critical resources to new immigrants. Though our name has changed over the years, our commitment to helping the most vulnerable people in our community has remained the same. In recent years, as more and more families have struggled to afford stable housing in Boston, we shifted our focus to helping homeless families. Today, we provide shelter, housing, and hope to 800 families, including 1,500 children, each year.
In honor of our 100th anniversary in 2016, we raised $1 million to double the size of our affordable housing program and expand our homelessness prevention efforts. Thank you to all of our friends and partners for helping us reach this tremendous goal!
In November, we celebrated this milestone at our 100th anniversary celebration: 100 Years of Shelter, Housing, and Hope.
