Are you a social service provider looking to refer a client to FamilyAid Boston? Below are the eligibility requirements for each of our programs.

A mother and father watching their son sleeping.Each program at FamilyAid Boston has eligibility requirements that prospective clients must meet. If we are unable to help an individual or family who is in crisis, we will do our best to refer them to a local agency better suited to their needs.

Homelessness Prevention
Applicants for homelessness prevention assistance must be current clients of FamilyAid Boston or a Family-to-Family Project partner agency. 

To qualify for Community Based Family Shelter, a family must be referred by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Please call DHCD at 617-573-1100 if you have questions about eligibility requirements. Boston families who do not meet DHCD's eligibility requirements should contact the Department of Neighborhood Development by calling 311. 

Rapid Re-Housing
To be part of the Housing Access Collaborative, families must be homeless, from Boston, and have children under the age of 18. For referrals, please contact Program Coordinator Kim Lopez at or 617-542-7286 ext. 283.

HOMES units are generally at 100% occupancy. When vacancies arise, they are promptly communicated to our clients and collaborating agencies. For more information, please contact Zach Sherman, Director of Housing Development & Property Services at 617-542-7286 ext. 246 or

Employment Services
Families must be enrolled in one of FamilyAid Boston's homelessness prevention, housing or shelter programs to access our employment services.
