Jazmin and Matteo are thriving — thanks to you.
“This organization truly feels like it was sent by God,” Jazmin said. “Through FamilyAid, I’ve received not only financial help, but also emotional and mental support.”
Because of the high cost of living and limited affordable housing options in Boston, Jazmin and her eight-year-old son Matteo had no choice but to live in a friend’s spare bedroom. Despite these difficult circumstances, Jazmin remained determined to build a better life for her family. She reached out to Matteo’s Boston Public Schools teacher to see if she was aware of any resources that could help get her and her son into a safe home of their own.
That’s when FamilyAid stepped in. With the support of her Case Manager, Lina, Jazmin began taking meaningful steps toward stability. Recognizing the importance of safe, reliable childcare, Lina helped Jazmin enroll Matteo in a local afterschool program—an essential move that helped her pursue employment. Shortly after, with guidance from her FamilyAid Career Navigator, Emily, Jazmin found a job as a Home Health Aid that allowed her to begin supporting her family independently.
As her work hours steadily increased, Jazmin also began preparing for her next big milestone: securing stable housing. Together with Lina, she applied for multiple affordable housing opportunities across the city. Their efforts paid off—Jazmin is set to sign the lease for a new apartment next week, a critical step toward long-term security and independence for her and Matteo.
Today, Matteo is thriving in school with the support of his afterschool program, and Jazmin is well on her way to establishing a strong foundation for their future. Jazmin’s resilience and determination, connection to community support and work with FamilyAid have set her family up for a lifetime of success.
“I will never stop being grateful to Ms. Lina for always keeping me—and especially my son—in mind. She was always there, whether it was activities, a winter coat or food. Truly, I have no way to repay her. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
