A Mother’s Strength, a Family’s Progress

When Chloe, a single mother of three–Ari (8), Fatima (11), and Isabella (18)–was diagnosed with cancer, her world was turned upside down. Already balancing the responsibilities of raising her children on her own, her newly diagnosed illness and its arduous recovery process made it increasingly difficult for her to work. Chloe worried how she would continue to care for her children, as her savings–which she’d been using to cover food and rent–continued to shrink.

Determined to stay strong for her family, Chloe turned to FamilyAid for support. With the help of her Case Manager, Lina, she was connected to vital food resources, including low-cost grocery stores and local food pantries, easing the pressure of putting meals on the table. She also received a referral for a clothing voucher and was able to ensure her children had the essentials they needed during this difficult time.

The most critical support came in the form of rental assistance. Through various funding sources, FamilyAid helped Chloe maintain housing stability while she underwent surgery and began her recovery. This assistance gave Chloe the space and security to heal without the extra fear of losing her home.

With Lina’s help, Chloe’s eldest daughter, Isabella, enrolled in a GED/HiSET program, allowing her to attend classes five days a week while continuing to work part-time to support her household. Isabella’s commitment mirrors her mother’s strength and resilience, and together, the family is moving forward.
