FamilyAid receives $250,000 Housing for Everyone Grant from the TD Charitable Foundation

FamilyAid, the Commonwealth’s largest 2-Generational anti-poverty program for children and parent’s experiencing housing instability and homelessness, was recently awarded a $250,000 Housing for Everyone grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the giving arm of TD Bank U.S. FamilyAid is one of 40 nonprofit organizations across TD’s footprint to receive funding through the 20th annual Housing for Everyone grant program, which supports solutions that foster early intervention, advance housing stability and decisively address housing challenges for renters in low- to moderate-income communities.

Housing instability remains a critical issue for individuals and families nationwide, driven by rising living costs, financial hardship, and challenges navigating housing systems. In recognition of the program’s 20th anniversary and its longstanding commitment to housing affordability, the TD Charitable Foundation awarded $10 million in total grants in 2026, its largest Housing for Everyone investment to date, to support organizations focused on preventing eviction and promoting long-term housing stability.

This year’s Housing for Everyone grantees were selected for their proactive approaches to eviction prevention and housing stabilization, which help individuals and families remain housed, reduce financial stress, and strengthen communities.

In the face of significant reductions in state and municipal safety nets for families experiencing poverty, this grant allows FamilyAid to continue providing 2-Generation case management, housing stabilization and service navigation to more than 3,000 children and parents connected to the Boston Public Schools.

That $4.2 million program, known as the Early Homelessness Intervention and Prevention Program (EHIP), has served more than 10,000 Boston children and parents since 2019 and currently serves more than 2,800 children and parents. A recently published six-year longitudinal study of the program by Boston College School of Social Work provides the most comprehensive evidence to date about the experiences and outcomes of families served by a school-housing agency partnership. According to researchers, families participating in EHIP experienced greater housing stability, access to higher quality housing, higher levels of well-being, and reduced chronic absenteeism than those enrolled in similar programs.

“Access to early support can make the difference between stability and displacement for renters facing unexpected financial or personal challenges,” said Paige Carlson-Heim, Head of Social Impact at TD and Director of TD Charitable Foundation. “Through the Housing for Everyone grant program, TD is proud to invest in FamilyAid, which provides critical services that help prevent eviction before it becomes a crisis. This work not only supports individual households but also fuels the long‑term resilience of our communities.”

As it celebrates 20 years of collaboration with frontline nonprofits in housing affordability, the TD Charitable Foundation’s Housing for Everyone grant program highlights TD’s enduring dedication to building stronger communities through stable, affordable housing. Since its inception in 2005, the program has invested over $73 million, supporting more than 675 affordable housing projects from Maine to Florida.
