Internship Opportunities
FamilyAid is the leading provider of solutions to family homelessness in Massachusetts, empowering parents and caregivers facing homelessness to secure and sustain housing and build strong foundations for their children’s futures. The Boston Globe has ranked us as one of Massachusetts’ Top Places to Work for three consecutive years.
Why FamilyAid?

Work That Matters
From your first day, you’re contributing to families’ lives — supported by a team that’s genuinely invested in you and the work you share.

Supervision That Actually Teaches
You’ll receive both individual and group supervision from people who take the time to explain the why, not just the what — so you leave with professional understanding, not just completed tasks.

Leave Ready for What’s Next
You’ll take on meaningful, hands-on work from the start and finish your internship with practical skills, ownership, and the confidence that comes from doing work that counts.
Our Core Values

Summer Internship Positions
Looking for a program that you’re not seeing here, or have an idea for a new internship program? We’d love to hear it!
Academic Year Internship Positions
The Psychoeducation and Behavioral Health Support Intern will join FamilyAid’s 2Gen team to expand the behavioral health supports and bridge gaps in services while families await long-term behavioral health care. This internship builds on the foundation of the piloted 2025 “Clinical Support and Psychoeducation internship” and extends that work across all FamilyAid programs.
This internship supports FamilyAid’s two-generation (2Gen) programming, a model developed by the Aspen Institute that focuses on holistic, two-generation solutions for families experiencing homelessness. Serving as an on-site partner liaison at one of FamilyAid’s congregate family shelter sites, the intern will facilitate collaboration between shelter staff, 2Gen Navigators, and community partners to ensure programming is effectively implemented and meets the needs of families.
This internship is embedded within FamilyAid’s 2Gen Navigator team and provides project coordination and research support for the team’s ongoing work. A central focus of this role is supporting the team’s work around Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), a framework within the Aspen Ascend 2Gen model that emphasizes building families’ long-term social networks, civic engagement, and access to enriching experiences that foster stability and intergenerational well-being.

Funding and Academic Support
While FamilyAid is unable to provide monetary compensation for its internships at this time, we are committed to supporting all students who contribute to our work. We partner with many schools and programs that provide stipends for unpaid nonprofit internships, and are happy to work with individuals on specific requirements for academic credit or other funding.
Many schools offer programs that provide compensation for students accepting unpaid internship opportunities. We have worked with over a dozen schools to access these funds for interns placed with FamilyAid. If you have questions or need help finding a potential funding source, please reach out to Alyssa, our Director of Clinical Training and Resources.
