THE FAMILY-TO-FAMILY PROJECT

65% of children admitted to the Emergency Room don’t have a medical problem - their diagnosis is homelessness.

Established by a group of compassionate donors, the Family-to-Family Project is a network of families that extend a helping hand to families teetering on the edge of homelessness. For many families, a one-time grant of $3,500 can keep them in their homes and prevent them from falling into homelessness. While many people can turn to their parents, grandparents or other people in their support systems during a financial emergency, the families we work with often have nowhere and no one to whom they can turn. With the support of this committed group of  donors, we keep families from being evicted and put them on a path to a brighter future.

Other Family-to-Family supporters ensure that families who do end up in our temporary and permanent housing have their immediate physical needs met, whether it is new kitchenware, house cleaning supplies, welcome kits or a snuggly blanket and teddy bear so that every child feels safe and welcome from their first night in a new temporary or permanent home.

The Family-to-Family Project provides Boston’s most vulnerable families with the support they would otherwise not have. By reaching out to another family in need, Family-to-Family members are changing the trajectory of children’s lives and stemming the tide of family homelessness.
