Finding Hope for Hannah

A mom and her three sons.

Hannah, a devoted mother to Zac, Lincoln and Max—aged 9, 6, and 4—was struggling in an abusive marriage and working a demanding job. One evening, Hannah and her sons came home to changed locks on the door of the family’s one-bedroom apartment. Without any belongings, identification or a place to sleep, they sought refuge at Boston Medical Center, where they were connected with FamilyAid.

Their FamilyAid case manager, Cassie, swiftly provided Hannah and her sons with safe shelter. Over the next few days, Cassie helped the family replace lost documents, learn about financial aid resources and connect with counseling and legal support. Within just three months, Cassie secured a two-bedroom apartment for Hannah and the boys. FamilyAid also provided the family with rental assistance and furnished their new space with essentials they needed, marking the beginning of a new chapter.

Throughout their journey, Cassie offered unwavering support and guidance to Hannah and her sons, mindful of both their physical well-being and their emotional resilience. Hannah, reflecting on her family’s experience, expressed deep gratitude to FamilyAid. “I am so grateful to FamilyAid’s wonderful staff for being there for my children and me at the toughest times in our lives.”

Hannah, Zac, Lincoln and Max are just four of the 5,444 children and parents FamilyAid served last year. This year, with your help, we expect to serve even more families.
